Decisions vs discussions: the only meeting metric that matters

Most meetings end without a decision. Here's how the best operators rebuild their cadence around outcomes.

Count the meetings on your calendar this week. Now count how many of them will end with a clear decision, an assigned action, and a due date. If the answer is less than half, you have a meeting problem.

Discussions feel productive. Decisions are productive.

There's nothing wrong with discussion. But when a meeting ends with "let's circle back" instead of "here's what we decided, here's who owns it, here's when it's due," you've just spent 30–60 minutes generating heat instead of light.

The best operators we've worked with track one metric: decisions per meeting.

How to rebuild your cadence

Start by ending every meeting with three questions: What did we decide? Who owns the follow-up? When is it due? Write the answers down in the same place your projects live.

In Praxiox, meeting records are linked directly to projects. Decisions become tracked items. Actions get assigned with due dates. The next meeting starts with "here's what was due" instead of "where were we?"

Want to test this on one live project?

Start with one engagement, compare it against your current workflow, and see whether the reporting gets simpler.
